De woerd is opvallend kleurrijker dan de eend. Bij de roodschoudertaling zien we geen eclipskleed. Met andere woorden, de woerd behoudt zijn kleurrijke verenkleed het ganse jaar.
The males are much more colorful than the females. The males have the same coloration the entire year.
